The Port District Football Club is set to receive a major upgrade to its clubrooms at Largs Reserve, under a proposal put forth by their local council.

The planned upgrade will involve replacing the current clubrooms with new, expanded facilities for all players, including female changerooms to help more people take part in local sport.

Within the upgrade there is a big focus on community, highlighted by the inclusion of a new large function area in the plan. Additionally, a new carpark is expected to be built, expanding the current site’s capacity from 79 to 98 spaces.

Largs Reserve is the home of Port Districts Football Club, a Division 1 AFL community club from Largs Bay. Located near Port Adelaide, the Largs Reserve is the clubs main sporting ground, hosting teams from different age groups and divisions, and welcoming both male and female players to the community.

“We are excited about the proposed new clubrooms at Largs Reserve. This is part of our wider plan of upgrading sports facilities across the city under our Sports Development Plan and Reserve Facilities Plan,” Mayor of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Claire Boan said.

“As has been the case for all City of PAE sports infrastructure over recent years, the new Largs Clubrooms will have expanded facilities for all players, including new accessible and female changerooms to help more people take part in local sport.

“This is part of our commitment to help local clubs grow in the local community through provision of infrastructure that enables them to throw open their doors for more events, activities and functions.”

The upgrade is now awaiting approval through the Annual Business Plan and Budget process, which will be going to the June Council meeting. The community is able to give feedback on the plan open until May 14.
