It’s that time of the month again when we bring to you the delightful new flavour of Port Elliot Bakery’s Donut of the Month.
I could sit here and waffle on, creating some suspense but I won’t. Instead, I’ll get straight to the point. The November Donut of the Month is (drum roll, please)… Caramel Violet Crumble. STOP IT.
Filled with creamy caramel custard and topped with chocolate caramel-coated honeycomb flakes, this is one for all you choc-a-holics out there.
Many of you, like us, are most likely Port Elliot Bakery fans from way back, regularly succumbing to the sometimes gruelling wait in line, even though there are plenty of other perfectly good bakeries in the area, just to get your hands on one (or two) of the bakeries wares.
If the thought of standing in a line the length of Main Street Port Elliot has you second-guessing whether it’s worth it, then you obviously haven’t tasted one of the sweet, sugary, melt-in-your-mouth donuts these guys create each month.
Last month’s Lemon Pistachio donut was an absolute hit and gave a fruity twist from the choc-heavy flavours of months gone by.
If sweets aren’t your thing, Port Elliot’s Pie of the Month is equally as worthy, with November showcasing a flavour profile that is likely to divide the masses. Love it or hate it, the first time you eat Tuna Mornay stays with you for life and if you’ve had a bad experience in the past but are willing to give it another crack, you’re in safe hands with the Port Elliot bakers and their recreation of the homely classic.
If you’re still hankering for a sweet donutty treat, but Port Elliot is just a little out of your reach, Glam Adelaide has a guide to some of Adelaide’s favourite iconic bakeries and legendary patisseries. Dig into this list to find a bakery near you, because everyone deserves to devour a delicious house-made baked good every now and again.
