Port Noarlunga’s Botanista transforms into a whimsical plant shop straight out of a storybook

Terrarium and fairy-garden store Botanista in Port Noarlunga, has revealed a magical new transformation.

One of Port Noarlunga’s most magical spots has been quietly transformed into a full-blown fairytale, and they’re inviting you to check it out.

Botanical emporium Botanista has just revealed its stunning transformation that takes this already enchanting terrarium and fairy garden shop to a whole new level. Now filled with whimsical installations and immersive displays, this is a spot to check out if you’re heading south.

If you’ve ever wandered through Botanista, you’ll know it’s not your average plant store. Owned by local creative Charlene Maney, for the past seven years the shop has been home to Australia’s first build-your-own terrarium bar, an eclectic range of fairy-garden bits and bobs, and the kind of personal charm you just don’t find at the big garden centres. But now, thanks to a collaboration with artist and experience-maker Matt Jonsson, Char’s long-held dream for the space is finally coming to life.

“When I first opened Botanista, I imagined a place full of wonder – somewhere people could come, feel inspired, and create something beautiful,” shared Char.

“I didn’t have the funds back then to bring it to life fully. But now, with the support of our community, it’s finally happening.”

Matt is the visionary behind installations at the d’Arenberg Cube and Blackeby’s sweet shop, so the shop was in good hands.

The upgrade includes stunning selfie spots, magical corners tucked with surprises, and huge installations that transform the casual shop into something super immersive. It’s Instagram gold, but more than that, it’s an invitation to slow down, play, and reconnect with creativity.

Of course, all your favourites are still there. The terrarium bar, where you can create your own mini-worlds to take home, remains, and the themed workshops, carefully curated gifts, and signature plants Botanista is known for have stuck around.

If you’re keen to check it out, pop in and build your own creation, join a workshop, or simply take a stroll through the space and soak it all in. And if you snap a photo and tag @botanista_sa, you might even win a little prize.

So if you’re a local keen to rediscover this shop or just heading down the coast, Botanista’s new look is the perfect excuse to make a day of it.
