Port Pirie’s Ellen Hotel Is Regional Accomodation With A Difference

Located in the heart of Port Pirie, and deemed “the first of its kind in ultra-luxurious accommodation outside of Adelaide”, Ellen Hotel was opened in 2016.

All roads lead to Port Pirie.

This is (more often than not) a fact.

Port Pirie is a seaport on the Spencer Gulf, and is home to one of the world’s largest lead smelter. In 1953, it was declared South Australia’s first provincial city.

Located in the heart of the Port Pirie CBD, and deemed “the first of its kind in ultra-luxurious accommodation outside of Adelaide”, is Ellen Hotel.

Opened in 2016 by the Introna family, Ellen Hotel is a rather different offering from the standard motel accommodation around the Spencer Gulf. With 19 high end guest rooms on offer, this is a regional hotel that doubles as a countryside getaway.

Situated within the hotel is Ellen Restaurant. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant boasts quality food and a sophisticated atmosphere.

After three years under the Introna ownership, in April of 2019, Dean Vegas took over Ellen Hotel.

Vegas comes with his own colourful background. Renowned as ‘the Aussie Elvis’, Vegas has toured the world as an Elvis Presley tribute artist and received many an accolade for his efforts.

With Vegas at the helm, Ellen Hotel remains a luxury, regional establishment, and what is perhaps the ideal spot to base yourself when exploring the South Australian countryside.

Port Pirie is in close proximity to many a scenic, “must visit” regional destination, including Telowie Gorge, and Port Germein. Blesing’s Garden Glenholme Vineyards in Bangor is also worth investigating.

The Southern Flinders Ranges is nearby, and features stunning spots such as Mambray Creek and Alligator Gorge.

For the moment, the future of Ellen Hotel looks bright. After all, all roads lead to Port Pirie.

You can find Ellen Hotel at 99 Ellen St, Port Pirie.
