Port Willunga’s iconic Star of Greece launches a warming winter Duck and Pinot experience by the sea

Star of Greece has launched a limited Duck & Pinot winter dining experience, bringing a two-course menu and premium pinot to Port Willunga.

One of South Australia’s most iconic coastal dining destinations is leaning into winter, launching a new cooler-months offering that pairs duck, pinot and sweeping Port Willunga views.

Perched above the cliffs, Star of Greece has introduced a new Duck & Pinot two-course lunch or dinner, available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May 23 through to the end of August.

Priced at $65 per person, the limited-time offer is made for slow midweek lunches and cosy seaside dinners, bringing together a duck-focused menu with a choice of pinot noir as the weather cools.

The menu begins with duck pot stickers served with sesame, soy and coriander, before moving into a rich main of smoked duck breast with parsnip mash, seared scallop, duck leg ballotine and jus.

Guests can pair the meal with a glass of either the 2025 Ashton Hills “Piccadilly” Pinot Noir or the 2024 Domaine Derey Frères Bourgogne Côte d’Or, each bringing a different expression of pinot to the table.

The Ashton Hills release has already attracted strong praise, receiving 95 points from Mike Bennie in Halliday Wine Companion, who described it as “a striking release for its depth, finesse and savoury elements.”

For those leaning French, the Domaine Derey Frères Bourgogne Côte d’Or brings classic Burgundy character to the experience, with Jasper Morris MW describing it as “a fine glowing ruby, with splendid Pinot elegance.” Tasting notes for the drop describe poached plum, violet and earth on the nose, with detailed flavours and a long finish.

Star of Greece has long held a special place in South Australia’s dining scene, known for its dramatic cliffside setting, Mediterranean-style food, seafood focus and sweeping views across Gulf St Vincent. Named after the Star of Greece shipwreck, the Port Willunga restaurant has become one of the Fleurieu Coast’s most recognisable dining destinations.

In winter, that setting takes on a whole new mood. On stormy afternoons, dark clouds roll across the coastline and waves crash beneath the cliffs, turning the dining room into a front-row seat to the drama of the Fleurieu. On calmer days, sunlight pours through the windows, the ocean glitters below, and a glass of silky pinot feels like the perfect match for the rich flavours of smoked duck and jus.

The new Duck & Pinot offer is available for lunch or dinner on Wednesdays and Thursdays, giving locals and visitors a winter-friendly reason to revisit the venue outside the peak summer rush.
