Prancing Pony Are The Best In The World

They are the champions!! They are the champions!! No time for bad beer, because they are the champions…

We all know South Australia has a lot to be proud of when it comes to our wine, and recently our spirits as well. With beer, we also punch well above our weight but last night, something very special happened.

A beer available in our bottle shops, in our pubs, and brewed just up the hill close to Mount Barker has just been named Supreme Beer Champion at the International Beer Challenge in London.

That probably comes with a trophy, hopefully a side of barbecued meat, and a gold plated tee shirt that says ‘Best Ever’. The next time you’re at your local, and you want to try the ‘World’s Best’ here’s your order: Prancing Pony’s India Red Ale.

Prancing Pony Brewery at Beer & CiderThe mythology says that the Supreme Champion Beer is awarded to the highest scoring Trophy at the International Beer Challenge. With challenge entries from breweries all around the world. Local brewers Frank and Ben and production team members Philip, Jo and Tim have been responsible for putting this all together. It’s time we stood up and gave them the kudos they truly deserved. Though being humble Hills folks, they’re probably going to be a bit bashful about it all.

This comes off the back of 15 medals and a national Champion Trophy earned by the brewery during their short existence with 2016 alone seeing their new Lager (Achtung Helles) recently take home the gong at the Royal Adelaide Beer Awards while an additional 3 medals came at the Craft Beer Awards in Brisbane just the other week for their Hopwork Orange, Rusty Panzer and the Stout. They were also recently heralded one of the Top 3 Breweries in the Country as well.

But this truly takes the cake. It’s like winning the Olympics. Want to be on Cloud 9 like Prancing Pony are right now? Grab a bottle of India Red Ale next time you’re in the bottle shop. It’s an absolute cracker!

If you didn’t know who Prancing Pony were, you can find out more about them here. Or visit the brew shed itself at 42 Mt Barker Road, Totness (the tiny suburb between Mt Barker and Hahndorf). Find out more from the Prancing Pony website, or their Facebook.
