Premier Malinauskas announces that SA vaccination clinics will stay open

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has announced that SA vaccinations clinics will remain open for an extended amount of time.

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas announced on Tuesday, April 5. 2022 that vaccination clinics in SA will remain open for an extended amount of time.

Eight of the vaccination clinics were set to close on May 31, 2022.

Premier Malinauskas said that these clinics will be open and extended further into 2022.

“We are extending the clinics to be open far longer,” Premier Malinauskas said.

“Wayville Vaccination Clinic is now set to close on July 31. Pop up clinics and regional vaccination clinics will also continue.

It will cost $637,000 to keep these South Australian vaccinations clinics open and the Premier said “that’s a small price to pay.”

“You don’t want to be the person taking up a hospital bed for a COVID problem when there could be another serious usage for that bed,” Premier Malinauskas said.

“Australia is one of the highest in the world for vaccinations. That is a status we want to continue. We don’t want SA to go back to tougher vaccination mandates.

“Get the third and fourth dose. It helps your health, your fellow SA community members and will get people back to work in a more traditional way.

“There are very real world impacts. You’re not just doing it for your own health, but your fellow SA citizen.”

The closing dates for the SA vaccination clinics are:

  • Pop-up Clinics – May 31
  • Playford – June 30
  • Noarlunga – June 30
  • Regional Areas – June 30
  • Wayville – June 31

The aim for the continued opening of the clinics is to continually increase the vaccination rates.

“If you choose not to be vaccinated, you are far more susceptible to get COVID,” Premier Malinauskas said.

“There have been very few SA people who have not had COVID or a loved one to receive it.

“That is why the vax is so important to you and other SA people.

“If we invest in the front end now, the admissions will be held on the back end at the hospital.”
