I scream, you scream, we will all be screaming for Scroll Ice Cream… And if you have Instagram then chances are you have probably already seen this new phenomenon all over your feed. It is the new cronut, the new bahn mi, the new cold pressed juice (but maybe less healthy) and has already taken Melbourne by storm. People of Adelaide, prepare yourselves because it is here and it is so yummy…

But before we get too excited maybe we should explain exactly what this Scroll Ice Cream is… Let’s make this nice and simple:

  1. Fresh, organic and local ingredients are combined to make the ice cream mixture;
  2. No preservatives or stabilisers are added which means that this ice cream produces smaller ice molecules to make it naturally smooth and creamy (like the Barry White of ice cream);
  3. When the mixture is ready it is poured over a cold plate machine that reaches temperatures below -20°C (imagine a sort of ice cream pancake);
  4. The ice cream freezes on the plate and can then be worked into the scrolls;
  5. You can then decorate to your liking with a range of toppings, and then;
  6. Enjoy the deliciousness

The geniuses behind what will most definitely be the food scene’s next ‘big thing’ got the idea after a trip to Thailand. The concept came from the Thai street food vendors in Phuket who used this idea of ‘scrolling’ and after seeing it just had to bring it back to Australia. Melbourne had a taste and now it is our turn…
