Production Hotting Up For Hamilton Laboratories

Hamilton Packaging FaceliftWith summer just around the corner, it’s a facelift for one of South Australia’s most successful family companies. The first bottles of the new look Hamilton Laboratories sunscreen have begun rolling off the production line at the firm’s manufacturing plant in the city. Summer has come early with Hamilton bringing ahead production of its iconic range of sunscreens to cater for expected strong demand across Australia and overseas this year.

Hamilton Laboratories Joint Managing Director Michael Blake said the new look bottles would be on pharmacy shelves in time for the traditional pre-summer rush.

“This year we have pushed production ahead by a few weeks to ensure we have the stock on hand and on the shelves in time for the lead up to what is expected to be a very busy summer,” Mr Blake said.

Hamilton Laboratories is aiming to manufacture close to 500 tonnes of its sunscreen and other skincare products this year, which would be a record for the 78-year-old family company.

The new Hamilton corporate brand was created with the help of leading Australian designer Ken Cato. It is the first revamp of the family company’s logo in 50 years and this is the first summer where the corporate design will flow through on to the packaging.

“We wanted a new corporate identity that captures our company’s scientific strengths and history but at the same time reflects our modern approach in a visually striking way,” Mr Blake said.

The result is a bold and stylised logo that incorporates the capital letters H and L from Hamilton Laboratories.

Founded in 1932, Hamilton is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high quality sunscreens as well as distributing therapeutic skincare, nasal and oral care products. Hamilton has an Australian-wide distribution network and exports to more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe and North America.
