Prohibition Liquor Co relaunch their sell-out Blood Orange Gin

Prohibition Liquor Co has brought back its popular Blood Orange Gin, after selling out in just weeks last year.

The gin is looking to be here for a good time not a long time this year yet again, after hundreds of bottles were sold in just its first hour of sale on Monday.

Head distiller Hugh Lumsden describes the mix as loud and playful.

The hints of blood orange, lemon and mandarin make it the most citrus-forward gin yet.

The “juicy, fun in a glass” is best served in springtime as a refreshing gin and tonic with blood orange and mint, or as a summertime spritz.

The Blood Orange Gin was launched in 2020 as a limited release small batch gin with only 750 bottles produced.

After selling out in just weeks last year, Prohibition Liquor Co have now ramped up production to ensure the Blood Orange range becomes part of its core range.

Each year, the Blood Orange Gin vintage is tweaked to suit the conditions.

In 2021, the vintage of blood oranges were sourced from a single orchid in Loxton and had a fairly short season this midwinter.

There were perfect growing conditions of cool nights and sweltering days, which are typical of the Riverland region.

The Prohibition Liquor Co team were sure to source the blood oranges at just the right time, which they then peeled and distilled with the finest botanicals within days of picking.

The Blood Orange Gin is currently on sale to the general public this week and will be served in the Prohibition Liquor Co Gilbert Street Distillery Tasting Room from Wednesday September 15.

Prohibition Blood Orange Gin is $89 in venue or $94 delivered to your door.

Prohibition Liquor Co Distillery Tasting Room is located at 22 Gilbert Street, Adelaide.

You can buy the Prohibition Blood Orange Gin here before it sells out or by going into the distillery.
