After a very successful debut event last summer, the Prospect Greek Festival is officially back for round two this weekend, and it’s already looking to be even bigger, louder and more delicious than the first time.
Back this Saturday, January 31st, the festival will be transporting Prospect locals straight to the shores of Greece. The free, volunteer-run event kicks off at 4pm, inviting visitors to come together for an evening of food, culture and community. Anyone who steps through the gates will be warmly welcomed to delicious Greek meals and some pretty unmistakable hospitality.
Con Dalas, President of the Prospect Greek Festival Committee, shared, “The Prospect Greek Festival is all about bringing people together through food, culture and community.
“As a volunteer-run event, it’s incredibly special to see so many people give their time to create something that everyone can enjoy. After the success of last year, we’re proud to welcome the community back for another celebration of Greek hospitality and connection – more food, more music, more dancing, and heaps more fun!”
At the centre of the festivities is, of course, the food. They’ll be serving up traditional flavours, with a menu lineup that’s designed to share, while still giving you a taste of all your Greek favourites. With summer heat well and truly here, we’re sure the St Louis ice cream stand will also be one you won’t want to miss.
Live entertainment will keep the vibes high throughout the evening, with music and performances that invite the crowd to get involved or enjoy all the fun from the sidelines. Families are warmly welcomed too, with the festival designed for people of all ages to find a relaxed, inclusive space where they can enjoy the sights, sounds and spirit of Greek culture.
The Prospect Greek Festival is more than just a night out. It’s a celebration of cultural heritage and community pride, and shines a spotlight on the local Greek community and the passionate volunteers who work behind the scenes to bring the event to life. Really proving that grassroots festivals can have a big impact on the local community.
One way they’re doing this is through their sponsors, who are helping them give back to those who are showing up and supporting the festival. Thanks to some of these sponsors, there’s a chance you might get lucky with a raffle bringing huge prizes. This year, thanks to MSC Cruises, they’ll be giving away a 7-day MSC Mediterranean cruise for two worth more than $7,000. There are also prizes for a $2,500 Entertainment Centre corporate box experience, a $2,000 TV, a $600 cash prize and a $400 tasting experience at Mitolo Wines. All you have to do is enter with a $10 raffle ticket.
