SA’s top hairdresser has been revealed at the 2021 Australian Hair Industry Awards (AHIA) with a Prospect hair salon taking out the top title.
SJ Establishment, led by industry favourite Sam James was named State Salon of the Year SA/TAS 2021, after making their mark on the industry last year with their win for Newcomer of the Year.
With Australia’s hair industry finally taking steps to reopen, rebuild and recover, the awards have been a testament to the efforts of salons across the country following the effects of the pandemic.
Inheriting the Newcomer of the Year title for 2021, is Adelaide City hairdressers, EtcherSalon, known for their amazing salon design and gender neutral pricing.
The business category winners were announced via social media livestream, with entrants tuning in to watch with anticipation. After a challenging year and a half, plus the disappointment of the cancelled awards gala event due to continued border uncertainty, salon creatives were able to celebrate their achievements online.
Launched in 2014 by media company Mocha Group, the AHIA’s are the trusted national award platform which provide a benchmark of excellence across specialist, group and individual categories.
The 2021 awards marked the largest number of entries ever received in the AHIA history across the 27 awards, demonstrating the importance that this program has within the hair industry framework, pushing each and every hairdresser and salon owner to be their best on set, backstage and behind the chair.
