The popular Artisans of Adelaide pop up has arrived in Prospect

The art collective, curated by Allison Mckay, has been on Rundle Street for three years and is now on Prospect Road for the first time.

Prospect Road now has a pop-up shop featuring only South Australian artists and makers.

The collective has 13 SA brands with products ranging from paintings to clothing. Featured companies include Prospect potter Home Thrown by Jen, Willaston-based Nomad Candles, and handblown glass earrings by Emily Jean Designs.

Paintings by artist I Am Amara are also featured, and she’s live painting canvases outside of the shop on Prospect Road during the Prospect Art Walk.

“It’s all 100 percent South Australia made,” collective founder Allison Mckay, says.

“We like to weave a local seam throughout.”

Art collective Artisans of Adelaide has moved from Rundle Street, where it popped up during Fringe time for the last three years, and has found a new home in Prospect.

Mckay, who started organic skincare line Soul Sense Natural Therapy five years ago, created the space for makers like herself.

“I know the challenges of a small makers trying to get your product out there,” Mckay says.

“We’re better as a collective; Now I’m here with other beautiful and talented people.”

Mckay decided to move to Prospect after seeing the pop-up’s building was left empty pending renovation. The landlord was happy to offer up the space for a temporary pop-up.

“It’s a gorgeous shop right on Prospect Road that’s about to be redeveloped,” she says. “We’ve been well received in the space so far.”

The pop-up is currently slated to remain in Prospect for eight weeks, but Mckay is open to staying in a more permanent fashion.
