The annual Prospect Spring Fair is back this October for an exciting day of free family fun! Set for Saturday October 26th from 10am to 3pm, this event isn’t just your average community fair, it’s a massive celebration filled with joy, colour, and community spirit at Broadview Oval/Yarnta Tutu yarta.
This year’s fair is going to have something for everyone. There will be amusement rides, sideshow games, and creative face painting and drawing workshops for kids. Plus, you can check out market stalls that will be offering delicious food, drinks, and unique handmade crafts.
One of the biggest and best highlights is the adorable (and hilarious) mini-dachshund race, where sausage dogs compete for the title of the fastest in the north. Last year, 40 dachshunds sprinted their little hearts out, and this year is sure to be just as exciting. If you’re an animal lover, you can also get up close with cute animals at the petting farm and nursery.
There will be local bands performing live music, filling the fair with fantastic vibes and showcasing the amazing talent in the community. There’s so much to look forward to, but here are some of the event’s highlights:
- Amusement rides like the Sizzler, Whacky Shack, Giant Slide, and Teacups
- Live performances by The Drops (Blackfriars Priory School band), Lucas Day, The Band of the SA Police – Radio 5, Adelaide Afrobeat Collective and Malibu Drive
- Community performances including Zumba with Cindy, CWALK (Bollywood dancers) and Kildare College
- The Dachshund Mini Dash, aka “The Running of the Sausages” (kicks off at 12pm)
- Flyball (dog racing) by local dog clubs
- Community stalls featuring groups like the Prospect Local Environment Group and Prospect Girl Guides
- Artisan and market stalls with handmade crafts and unique items
- Youth Market stalls supporting young entrepreneurs
- Delicious food, drink and dessert vendors
- A Come & Try Area with local sports groups
- A fire truck from the SA Metropolitan Fire Service for kids to explore
- A Wellness Sanctuary for some relaxation
