If you’re craving a change from the standard Sunday dog walk and are looking for a pawsitively fun and artistic experience for you and your fur child, the SALA Festival is excited to be hosting their Dog Friendly Art Tour—guaranteed to make tails wag and hearts happy!
Happening on Sunday, August 20th, get ready to explore the vibrant art scene of Adelaide, led by talented local artist Jenna Pippett and her adorable fur baby, 3 year old Weimaraner Zelda.

Jenna, who’s been running the Dog Friendly Art Tours since 2016, is excited to be guiding fellow art enthusiasts and their pups along this art-filled adventure and to be introducing Zelda to this whole experience too.
‘This will be Zelda’s first art tour,’ says Jenna, ‘and now that she’s three, I feel that her typical “Weimi” enthusiasm has settled enough where she can come along to an event like this and help me lead the group!’
Kicking off at 2:00 pm in the heart of the CBD, the tour will involve a combination of both indoor exhibitions and outdoor art installations. ‘We’ll start with a bit of a meet and greet in the centre of the city, just so the pups can say hello to each other, have a sniff and get settled before we start off on our journey,’ says Jenna. ‘Our first stop will be at the Floating Goose Studios, and the rest of the route will be a bit of a surprise!’.

Jenna, who works at the Hugo Michell Art Gallery and is a passionate artist herself, knows just the right destinations to hit to ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, having conducted these tours in the past with her previous pup Tilly.
‘These dog tours first started back in 2016 and came about because my dog at the time, another Weimaraner, Tilly, would come along with me to exhibitions, installations and various art meetings and galleries that I was volunteering at and was much loved within the community,’ says Jenna.
‘She was 7 at the time, so a little more chilled than Zelda, but after she passed in 2019 and obviously due to COVID, these tours were put on hold for a while. I’m excited that the team at SALA have asked me to come back, and now I have Zelda, we can start the pup adventures again!’ says Jenna.

Tickets are limited for the Dog Friendly Art Tour, being that it’s for a small, intimate group only, so it’s recommended to get in quick to secure your spot for you and your pup. ‘With Adelaide’s weather being so unpredictable, I recommend bringing a jacket or umbrella if it’s scheduled to rain, wear comfy shoes, and bring all your standard dog walking essentials—including any treats if you want to reward your pup for their good behaviour,’ says Jenna.
This one-of-a-kind experience, where art and human and canine companionship combine, promises to be a memorable afternoon for both art enthusiasts and their four-legged buddies, visiting breathtaking artworks and absorbing the wonders of creativity. And don’t worry—there’ll be plenty of time for your canine pals to sniff around and take in the fascinating scents of the city too!
When: Sunday, August 20th, 2:00 pm-3:30 pm
