Two of Australia’s major airlines have announced party-filled “Pride Flights” ahead of Sydney’s 2023 WorldPride event, with one airline giving away tickets to the now sold out WorldPride Opening Concert featuring Kylie Minogue.

First up, and more relevant to South Aussies, Virgin has announced that it’s bringing back Pride Flights, with more than 1000 seats across five flights available for bookings now.

Departing from Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane, the Pride Flights will feature in-flight entertainment hosted by stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under.

Before departing, guests will be invited to a pre-flight departure party, featuring entertainment by local LGBTQIA+ venues, before making the trip to WorldPride.

Once in the air, guests will be able to enjoy mid-air drag performances by Drag Race stars Coco Jumbo, Karen from Finance, Kween Kong, and Maxi Shield, alongside some of Australia’s leading drag talent including Barbie Q, Penny Tration, Philmah Bocks, Sexy Galexy and Tora Hymen.

There will also be bottomless beverages and DJ entertainment in the skies. Upon landing, guests move straight into the official Pride Flight Landing Party at The Beresford, where passengers will get complimentary drinks – an inclusion in the Pride Flight ticket price.

WorldPride is a global not-for-profit festival, organised by international organisation, InterPride. Sydney was chosen to host WorldPride in 2023, marking the first time a city in the southern hemisphere has been chosen.

Subsequently, many American LGBTQIA+ community members will be making the trip to Australia for the occasion. As Sydney WorldPride’s official airline partner, Qantas is hosting an exciting Los Angeles to Sydney Pride Flight, departing on 22 February 2023.

Comedian Joel Creasey will be leading the in-flight entertainment, where passengers will also be able to receive limited-edition ‘Rainbow Roo’ Qantas pyjamas, designed specifically for the flight.

An exclusive curated menu, designed for this flight only, will also be served by renowned chef and Qantas food, beverage and service director, Neil Perry.

Those on-board the Qantas Los Angeles to Sydney Pride Flight will also get a free general admission ticket to the now sold out Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert, featuring Kylie Minogue.

Tickets for the Qantas WorldPride Flight go on sale today (20 October 2022), prices starting from $US1545 ($A2450) return.

As an LA alternative, United Airlines is also partnering with Virgin Australia to host its first ever Pride Flight from San Francisco to Sydney, departing Wednesday 22 February 2023.
