Queer nightclub My Lover Cindi is making the move to a new location on Pirie Street, and they are going out with a bang.
The Adelaide LGBTIQ+ nightclub and performance space is moving from their current alleyway Flinders Street premises to 2/192 Pirie Street, which was formerly Shotz Pool Lounge.
A Farewell Flinders Fundraiser Party will be held on August 19th as a final send-off before My Lover Cindi makes the big move, which will be hosted by Cindi’s resident Annie Schofield and feature hourly performances from fan-favourite Cindi’s artists.
Drink specials throughout the evening will guarantee a good time, with a Sensory Hour from 7pm to 8pm with lower music and softer lights, a show and a raffle prize and 8pm to 2am will be party central.
The move will increase the venue capacity from 120 people to 200 and co-owners Kate Toone and Rachel Hosking have been busy transforming the new space.
Kate and Rachel opened My Lover Cindi with a shared a mission to create a safe space for minority groups who are under-represented at many venues and a passion for inclusivity.
A launch party will be held on September 2nd to celebrate the opening of the new venue and although the venue will be changing, My Lover Cindi at its core will remain the same.
The LGBTQI-friendly venue is all-inclusive and brings people together, proudly celebrating the diversity within queer communities and welcoming all allies and friends with open arms.
Inside the new venue, My Lover Cindi’s focus on accessibility is at the forefront with a stage including a wheelchair ramp, the height of the bar has been altered and the new venue itself will also be more accessible as it will be brought out of the alleyway and onto the thriving Pirie Street.
Kate and Rachel also have plans to open the doors to the venue during daytime hours and on Sunday nights to cater for everyone.
People can get their drink on at the bar, hit the dance floor, use the space to host community events and a spotlight shines brightly on queer performance.
The venue has previously played host to not only the nightlife scene, but also ‘Cindi’s Clothing Swaps’ to encourage people to break up with fast fashion.
Stocking a range of quality spirits, liqueurs, cocktails, wines, ciders, beers on tap plus plenty of booze-free options available including mocktails and soft drinks, there’s something for everyone at My Lover Cindi.
