Adelaide journalist and presenter Rebecca Morse has made an exciting new career move, joining forces with daughter Grace, in a brand new podcast called ‘In The Genes’.

Rebecca Morse is best known for her work as a presenter of ’10 News First’ from 2006 to 2020, and then as co-host on SAFM’s breakfast radio show ‘Bec & Soda’ in 2023 and 2024.

‘In The Genes’ will give listeners a chance to get to know Rebecca better and meet her 21-year-old daughter, Grace. The duo will team up to talk all things modern mother/daughter relationship with a touch of humour, honesty and heart.

“It was actually my daughter Grace’s idea to start a podcast,” shared Rebecca.

“I always thought that every man and his dog had a podcast, and I had no idea or vision for it, but when Grace brought up the idea of us doing it together I thought it was great.”

Rebecca shares that the podcast strikes a great balance between playful banter and meaningful discussions.

“We have so much to talk about. We have great banter and similar opinions on a lot of different things, but because of our generation gap, we have a lot of different opinions as well. We think that’s what will be most interesting to listen to.”

The podcast will be casual in style, and broken into two main segments.

“Because it’s called ‘In The Genes’ we’ve played off that and got segments around the letters DNA’.

“We’ll discuss dilemmas and advice. So whether that’s us giving life advice about things we’ve learnt or even recommendations of what book to read or what show to watch I think it’ll be great.”

The podcast will be raw, real, and authentic, providing listeners with a chance to go behind the scenes and get to know more about Rebecca and Grace. Although Rebecca has been working in and around the media for 25 years, she reveals Grace has taken the lead on the podcast.

“Grace is the boss, she says no to all of my suggestions! She’s away at the moment and I suggested a caption for one of our Instagram posts and she said ‘That’s the most millennial, embarrassing caption I’ve ever read’.

“But I do trust her judgement and although we do fight a lot, we’re going to try and be ourselves and keep it authentic.”

If you’re yet to catch it, the first episode came out last week, and with an episode scheduled to come out fortnightly on Wednesdays, listeners have plenty to look forward to.

“From the first episode, we’ve had so much lovely feedback. Some of our listeners have never listened to a podcast before and we’re their first, so it’s been great to hear that we’re entering people into the podcast market. We’re so touched by it,” shares Rebecca.
