Recognise exceptional women at the Inspiring South Australian Women’s Awards

The Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award recognises the contribution women make, in a voluntary or paid role, in advancing and enriching our society.

South Australians are being encouraged to pay the ultimate compliment to an inspiring woman in their life who has made a significant contribution to different areas of community life, by nominating them in the Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award.

Jointly coordinated by the Australia Day Council of South Australia and funded by the Department of Human Services’ Office for Women, the Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award is presented by Minister for Women Katrine Hildyard, herself a previous winner in 2012.

The nomination process is simple with two award categories, the Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award, and the Emerging Leader’s Award. A Commendation Award may also be awarded.

The Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award recognises the contribution women make, in a voluntary or paid role, in advancing and enriching our society.

South Australians are encouraged to consider nominating a woman who is breaking down barriers, working tirelessly in her community, or who has made an important difference in the lives of others.

Last year’s winners were Liz Habermann (Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award), for her campaigning efforts to change the law on voluntary assisted dying; Bianca Nilsson (Emerging Leader’s Award) for establishing a thriving music business with global reach; with Commendation Awards going to Farida Ayubi for hosting fundraising dinners to help displaced Afghans, and Melanie McHugh for her work with teenagers in Port Augusta.

The Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award celebrates the exceptional contribution women make, and it’s designed to acknowledge women who have previously not perhaps been publicly recognised for their work and service to the community.
