This South Australian event celebrating vintage vehicles and fashion was met with record crowds on Sunday September 27th.

The Bay to Birdwood organisers would like to thank the community for coming out on Sunday 27 September and supporting this great South Australian event. This year saw a record number of people, 11,581 to be exact, through the gates of the National Motor Museum. This year’s event was the Bay to Birdwood ‘Classic’ for vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1978. The field was full, with 1750 entrant vehicles participating in the beautiful 70 kilometre drive from West Beach to the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide Hills.

The final event at the National Motor Museum saw a record crowd of 11,581 people enjoy delicious food, live entertainment and children’s activities, and the fabulous vintage fashions. The fashions in the field competition also broke records with 63 people entered this year in the most authentic fashions of the 50s, 60s and 70s. The winners were: Most Authentic 50s fashion: Ebony West. Most Authentic 60’s fashion: Winners: Debbie and John Goddard. Most Authentic 70’s fashion: Kirsty, Ryan and Flynn Turner.

The highlight of the finish was the Concours d’Elegance. This year, 65 entrants went to great lengths to impress the judges with their vintage vehicle, personal attire, and overall presentation. His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AO presented the highly coveted trophy for the 2015 Bay to Birdwood Concours d’Elegance, to Mark & Julia Kraulis, who won with their beautiful 1956 Chevrolet Belair.

“The Bay to Birdwood would not be possible without the entrants and our volunteers. We extend our appreciation and special thanks to them for helping us deliver this major event for historic motoring enthusiasts and the wider community,” said Chairman Mal Hyde.
