Recovery Comedy Gala featuring great local comedians heads to Kangaroo Island

Join some amazing comedians from Adelaide and around Australia in a night dedicated to helping the recovery effort for KI.

It was only one year ago that Kangaroo Island battled devastating bushfires that ravaged 52% of the Island.

Kangaroo Island and its economy is still recovering which is why The Southern Slugs, an over 35’s AFL team that travel around the world playing exhibition Aussie rules games, have stepped up and organised a comedy gala to help the Island get back on to its feet.

The Southern Slugs with the assistance of Adelaide Comedy Legend, Ross Voss have sourced a great local lineup of Adelaide Fringe favourites.

MC’ing the night is comedy veteran Mikey D who will have you laughing right from the beginning of the night.

Joining him is headliner Chris Franklin who is most well known for his #1 song Bloke that went certified platinum in the year 2000.

The show also includes local Adelaide Fringe veterans Kel Balnaves, and Granny Flaps (Adelaide comedian Lori Bell), with her unique musical comedy stylings, plus Michael Connell from Victoria.

The Southern Slugs decided to put on this event as they know coronavirus has impacted people worldwide, affecting communities and industries, and been at the forefront of our thoughts throughout 2020, but they know the people of Kangaroo Island are still rebuilding after the devastating bushfires.

The event will be held on Valentines Day Eve so it’s the perfect opportunity to have a laugh with a loved one while supporting a really important cause.

The event kicks off at 7:30pm on Saturday the 13th of February at The Adelaide Irish Club 13-15 Carrignton St.

Tickets are $30 at the door with part of the proceeds going to the bushfire recovery effort on KI.
