Last night David Jones launched its Autumn/Winter 2014 collections with a dramatic presentation reminiscent of a Tim Burton film. Over 300 guests were transported through a magical labyrinth of theatre and rich décor as the famed On Seven space at David Jones was transformed into a romantic, other worldly moment.
An enchanted forest floor was created by florist Saskia Havekis from Grandiflora, with over 50 Camellia Sasanqua trees, ivy and twisted winter branches creeping through speckled Autumn leaves and deep cobalt blue hydrangea stems brings the set to life with giant gold moths settling onto sprouting mushrooms and cut tree trunks.
Hosting the launch was David Jones CEO and Managing Director Paul Zahra and David Jones Chairman Peter Mason AM, Group Executive Merchandise Donna Player, David Jones Ambassadors; Megan Gale and Emma Freedman.
A front row powerhouse included Great Gatsby star Elizabeth Debicki. Oscar nominee and four time nominated Emmy winner Rachel Griffiths, star Jessica Marais, Young Hollywood talents Gracie Otto, Isabelle Cornish, Leeanna Walsman, Grace Huang and Alex Russell (set to star in Angelina Jolie’s new film). Australia’s first family fashionistas Frances and Bridget Abbott sat alongside social identities Ita Buttrose, Michel Henri and Julie Carriol, Jean-Marc and Kirsten Carriol, Rachael Finch, Julian Tobias, model twins Zac and Jordan Stenmark, architect Nick Tobias and his author wife Miranda as well as Nicky and Troy Tindall. Newly signed David Jones designer Terry Biviano and husband Anthony Minichiello sat alongside songstress’ Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Sarah Blasko and Megan Washington and David Jones’ renowned designers including Collette Dinnigan, Dion Lee, Josh Goot, Camilla Freeman Topper and Marc Freeman.
