After a 22-year tenure, the iconic Red Square, fondly known as ‘Reds,’ is set to close its doors this March.
This announcement follows the closure of other notable Hindley St venues like Fat Controller, Dog and Duck, and Hades Hula House earlier this year, marking a significant shift in the city’s entertainment landscape.
Since its inception, Red Square has hosted a myriad of international acts, fostering the careers of numerous local DJs and MCs. It was a launchpad for aspiring artists and a haven for music enthusiasts.
The club’s closure is being approached with a celebratory spirit, honoring its legacy rather than mourning its end. The grand finale, slated for Saturday, March 9th, promises to be an epic 24-hour extravaganza, taking attendees from the rooftop to the main room, and through the legendary early-hour recovery sessions, before concluding in the front bar.
This event will feature a lineup of former resident DJs and special guests, ensuring that Red Square’s final hurrah echoes the vibrancy and spirit it has always embodied.
Tickets for this 24-hour send-off, which includes a rooftop day session with a bottomless drinks package, go on sale Sunday, February 4th.
The four-week finale series will start with a bang, offering a diverse array of events, showcasing the versatility and broad appeal that Red Square has always enjoyed. From the last ever Cloud Nine event on February 17 to an array of other special nights, including Project Hardstyle and EventPro Adelaide, the club ensures that its final days will be as memorable as its storied past.
Red Square’s closure symbolizes the end of an era for Adelaide’s club scene. It’s a poignant reminder of the transient nature of nightlife and entertainment venues, which often become the heart and soul of a city’s youth culture.
In a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has been part of their journey, Red Square acknowledges the staff, suppliers, guest acts, and every patron who walked through its doors.
“Thank-you to every single one of you who came through these doors, whether it was for RNB in the backroom, Gloss Fridays, the light-up dancefloor era, or a White Square party over the years. The staff, the suppliers, the guest acts, we appreciate every one of you who was a part of the success. The street has changed dramatically in recent times, and all good things must come to an end.”
