A wave of reggae rhythm is set to hit Australia, as leading reggae group UB40 will tour the country this October, bringing their iconic tracks and new music to their Australian fans. Celebrating 45 years of chart-topping music, UB40 will captivate fans with their enduring sound, alongside special guest and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, Eagle-Eye Cherry.
The Red Red Wine Tour will begin at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on 12 October, before proceeding to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, with a grand finale scheduled for 20 October at Red Hill Auditorium, Perth. Telstra users can secure their tickets first through a pre-sale, starting from 1pm (local time) on 12 April. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 1pm (local time) on 17 April.
UB40 fans can look forward to an immersive musical experience with their beloved classics like ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, ‘Food for Thought’, ‘Please Don’t Make Me Cry’ and ‘Kingston Town’ performed live. The group will also introduce music from their upcoming album, ‘UB45’, to be released globally on 19 April. Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide, UB40 continues to command global attention with their evergreen music.
Robin Campbell of UB40 expressed excitement for their return to Australia, saying, “We’re visiting some pretty exotic places on this world tour including Latin America, the Caribbean and the East, but we are always buzzing to come back to Australia, the welcome we get from the fans down there is special and we can’t wait to return with our new album ‘UB45’.”
With the release of ‘Forever True’, a reworking of their debut hit ‘Food For Thought’, UB40 has maintained its position in the official UK charts’ top 10 list. The new album, ‘UB45’, marks the band’s 45th anniversary, adding another milestone to their illustrious career, characterized by 10 UK top 10 albums and more than 100 million albums sold globally. Most founding members of UB40 continue to perform together, their long-standing friendships and shared Birmingham roots evident in their music. Vocalist Matt Doyle is a fresh addition to the band.
Grammy-nominated Eagle-Eye Cherry is an exciting addition to the tour. Known for his alternative rock style sprinkled with melodious elements, he will bring hits like ‘Save Tonight’ to the Australian audience. With a growing discography, including a recent album named ‘Back on Track’ released in January 2023, the Swedish singer-songwriter, son of the late jazz trumpeter Don Cherry, has plenty to offer fans.
