South Australian artist, Mark Lobert is opening a brand new gallery in the picturesque town of Hahndorf, with the new location serving as the Adelaide Hills home base for Lobert’s creations.
Keep an eye out on the gallery’s Facebook because the gallery will soon be offering expressions of interest for artists to showcase their work in the brand new space.
Before the move, you can head on down to Lobert’s original Port Adelaide gallery for an exclusive limited run of Lobert’s pieces at flash sale prices. The artist says the sale is “a unique opportunity to own one of his paintings”.
Lobert’s journey as an artist originated with a simple plan to earn some extra pocket money. He took secondhand furniture and turned those unloved pieces into something new by adding vibrant, bold colours and designs, a trend that he has continued in his artwork throughout the years.
From there, he began breathing new life into terracotta pots, offering them up at local markets. The brightly coloured pots were a fan favourite and people quickly snapped them up. His stall became very popular and seeing the joy on people’s faces was a motivator to move forward.
Lobert then pursued a larger canvas offering, which was a space to explore the thousands of ideas flowing constantly through his head. Once again, people loved the Mark Lobert style – and so a hobby turned into a lifestyle and now a highly successful business and sought-after brand.
Lobert sees his artwork as an extension of himself. The pieces reflect the world through his eyes – vibrant and colourful, quirky and offbeat, breathtaking and beautiful. He has been a full-time artist now for almost 20 years and he has turned his creative outlet into his life’s work.
The new Mark Lobert Gallery will be a place for visitors to step into Lobert’s world and the art he creates. Hahndorf is a creative hub of art, culture, food and wine, making it the perfect home for the Gallery. Spend time exploring streets and you just might find a hidden gem or two.
Mark Lobert Art hangs on walls around the world. In corporate spaces and family homes, in hospitals, hotels, banks and boardrooms. In lounge rooms of maisonettes and foyers of mansions.
