You’ve no doubt seen one of Katya Komarova’s stunning designer bags on the shoulders of women around South Australia, even if you don’t know it yet. Now, the Adelaide-born label is about to become even more popular with the opening of its first store in Stirling this September.
The decision to open a bricks-and-mortar location came unexpectedly for owner Katya Komarova, as the lease for the label in the city was about to expire and the team had to make a decision about their next move.
The opportunity presented itself when they stumbled upon the perfect space that could accommodate both the studio and a shop. “It felt like the right thing to do,” says owner Katya, “and ‘now’ is always the best time.”
For Katya and her team, this milestone marks a significant step in the future of the business. While the label has hosted a few pop-up shops in the past, having a permanent store will enable them to tell their brand’s story in a more immersive way, connecting with their clients on a personal level.
“It will be so wonderful to finally be able to interact with our customers in person, and it’s definitely very exciting,” Katya says.
Katya Komarova is no stranger to the fashion spotlight, having recently taken to the runway for Australian fashion Week on the prestigious WeWearAustralian x Afterpay Runway. The handbags that made their way down the runway are revered for their blend of luxury, functionality, and timeless elegance, embodying the essence of modern sophistication.
One of owner Katya’s favourites for every occasion is the Leather Baguette Bag which is handcrafted from vegetable-tanned leather, meaning there are no chemicals used in the tanning process and ages beautifully over time – adding a bit of a character to the tone of leather.
“I love it for its convenient size and flexibility to be a crossbody bag, a belt bag, a shoulder bag or an evening bag with a pretty chain, when needed,” Katya says.

“You always have to listen to yourself, and get onboard your beloved ones. The support I’ve had from my family over these years of building my business is massive,” she adds.
