Plan the ultimate wholesome weekend with the Wellness Wander itineraries

The inaugural Wellness Wander event takes place over three days this weekend with a wide variety of wholesome events to choose from

Celebrating all aspects of wellness, Wellness wander is a three-day event not to be missed and starts THIS FRIDAY!

More than 75 unique events and experiences have been scheduled across the region giving wellness seekers plenty to choose from to help them escape, unwind, relax and refresh.

Organisers have collaborated with a wealth of passionate operators to curate a program that either enhances, kickstarts or increases an individual’s mental, physical and social wellbeing.

The weekend-long program traverses the Adelaide Hills and is already proving extremely popular with a number of sold-out events. Organisers are encouraging people to act quickly so they don’t miss out.

Hot events selling fast are Barristers Block Premium Wines’ A Paint and Sip Event, Escapegoat’s Forest Bathing Wellness Walk in Belair, and Sinclair’s Gully, Sparkling in the Wild and stunning events at The Cedars.

New events have been recently added to give couples, families and individuals of all ages more choice to create their perfect schedule to bring them back to their own sense of wellbeing.

New events include: Fig Orchard Wellness by Glen Ewin Estate where you will learn everything about this ancient fruit and its illustrious history, finish off with breakfast or lunch; pamper yourself with a cleanse and detox ritual, and full body treatment with the Aries New Moon Ritual and Treatment, by Abundant Bliss Hahndorf; find harmony and peace at the Mandala Drawing with Inkwork, by Cathy Gray Inkwork, or sleep with art at Lucent Art House and Accommodation; join Hahndorf Walking Tours’ Hahndorf’s Connection to Country at Lartinga Wetlands or explore what being a ‘real’ man can be in this day and age with Busting Myths of Masculinity, by Rollingsview.

Martin Radcliffe, Chair of Adelaide Hills Tourism Board said that it was fitting that the Adelaide Hills was the first region in Australia to be home to the inaugural Wellness Wander event.

“This is the perfect platform to explore a meticulously curated program that delivers bespoke experiences, with a focus on five key wellness pillars that are abundant in the region: Provenance, Relax & Unwind, Nature, Learn & Create and Stay. Launching with so many events that fall under one or more of these pillars, the program is as rich as it is diverse, and celebrates the natural wave of creative operators that are already authentically operating in this space,” he said.

Some events last all day, and will take you through a range of activities, like Connect and Create with Nature by Fabrik Arts & Heritage where you indulge in ‘drawing yoga’, a nourishing lunch, a forest meditation, and a botanical watercolour class.

Others will leave you in a state of bliss all weekend with nothing more to consider, such as Tilbrook Estate’s Nourish – A Mindfulness Experience, where two health professionals will take you through guided mindfulness exercises, followed by a tasting of delicious local canapes and Tilbrook wine.

Join Horticultural Therapist, Emma Lewellyn at Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens Botanical Tea-Blending or Nature Journaling Workshops for an intimate and mindful workshop to learn how to make your own botanical tea blends or learn the restorative well-being practice of nature journaling.

Perhaps wellness to you means adventure and action with the whole family. Plan a day trip or stay overnight.  Get the heart rate racing and reinvigorate the senses with an experience filled with rock climbing, abseiling and ziplining across the treetops at The Great Family Unplug by Woodhouse Activity Centre or traverse Fox Creek with Escapegoat Adventures on their Fox Creek Mountain Biking Adventure.

Join a yoga class in the vines followed by wine tasting thanks to Roaming Zen at Sunsets, Sips and Salutations at Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard or head to the farm and pick your own pears or blend your own cider with Paracombe Premium Perry.  Follow the yellow brick road in Stirling at The Farmer’s Market | From Paddock to Plate event or collect your complimentary Adelaide Hills native flowers from the Botanic Poetry Studio in Woodside.

“Over the years the Adelaide Hills and its businesses have naturally formed a strong Wellness tourism offering. As a region that emphasises sustainability, the Adelaide Hills is the perfect place to immerse yourself in nature and take some time to rest, play and unwind,” said Radcliffe.

“Our aim is to not only support local community health, wellbeing, and sustainability, but to promote the value of accessible wellness experiences for all and contribute to a thriving and resilient tourism community,” he said.

The warm Adelaide Hills hospitality is being extended to the broader SA community to come together in a COVID safe way that is purposeful, diverse and connected. All the events have been designed to be small and intimate to minimise the risk of cancellations or necessary pivots. More information around the festival’s COVID approaches is available on the event website.

Wellness Wander runs from Friday 1 April to Sunday 3 April.
