Residency Opportunities For Bright, Young Artists

Carclew Youth Arts is giving three South Australian artists aged 18-26 the opportunity to take up a 12 month artistic residency at Carclew during 2013.

Expressions of interest are now open for three opportunities – two artist studio residencies and the position of foyer gallery curator. Residencies will commence February 2013 and will run through to February 2014.

“Carclew’s studio residencies provide emerging artists with the chance to work in a free space where they can develop their artform. It’s a wonderful opportunity to access industry support and expand professional networks,” said Annemarie Kohn, Carclew’s Visual Arts and Digital Media Program Manager.

Applications for the studio residency are open to artists of any discipline, with the successful applicant offered access to the studio free of charge for the duration of the residency.

Carclew’s 2012 resident artist Ruby Chew is currently exhibiting her second solo series of portraits at Hill Smith Gallery.

The foyer gallery Curator is responsible for artwork selection, coordination and delivery of eight exhibitions over a one-year period. The position is suitable for an emerging arts worker with a strong knowledge of local contemporary visual arts and a desire to gain further experience in the curation of exhibitions. The curator will be supported by a mentor throughout the year and will receive an honorarium.

“The foyer gallery curators position was established specifically to profile the work of South Australia’s young and emerging visual artists,” said Annemarie.

Expressions of interest close (or must be postmarked) Monday 7 January 2013.
