There’s a new bar on the block in Christies Beach. And this one’s got the vibe.
As you step through the doors of Boomers Bar, you’ll feel an unmistakable shift in time. Welcome to a place where the clocks are wound back, and the spirit of the 1960s right through to the 1980s comes alive in all its groovy glory.
Locals Andrew and Shelley were in search for a laid-back spot in the South to unwind with friends. Their search eventually lead them to create the newest hotspot on Beach Road.
“It’s been a long process; in fact, we started over 12 months ago. Neither of us have worked in hospitality before, and so we knew nothing about liquor licensing before.”
“We are overjoyed to finally open our doors and provide locals with a unique place to socialise and relax.”
And despite the name, this bar is truly for everyone.
It’s the deco that really sets Boomers Bar apart. The furniture is a blend of vibrant colours and bold patterns, with plush velvet couches and retro armchairs inviting you to sink in and relax. Low wooden tables are scattered around the room, perfect for resting your drinks while engaging in animated conversations with friends, old and new.
Lava lamps cast a mesmerising glow in every corner, and create a sense of mystery as you wander through the space.
“I’m an artist,” Shelly explained. “And I pride myself on embracing the principles of up cycling and recycling. So oI have adorned the bar with an eclectic mix of decor where nothing matches but everything goes.”
The result is a welcoming atmosphere that transports you to the comforting ambiance of your grandma’s house after a typical Sunday lunch. For fans of the classic movie “The Castle,” it’s the kind of place that exudes that famous “vibe.”
In terms of drinks, there’s all your standard bevies and cocktails, with some special selections.
“Our signature Boomers Seltzer, which is available in nine delightful flavours, has already become a favorite. For those craving a taste of Christies Beach, we proudly serve local beers from Kick Back Brewing”.
Whilst Boomers Bar will focus on drinks, it’s located in a fantastic block of shops on Beach Road, alongside a pizza place, burger joint, and souvlaki spot. They’ve made it even easier for you to enjoy your time at Boomers by teaming up with these neighbouring eateries.
You can just scan the QR code, and your favourite food will be delivered straight to your table from one of the neighbours.
So, whether you’re a local or a visitor passing through Christies Beach, you can experience the ‘vibe’ at Boomers Bar. It’s the perfect place to indulge in a cocktail, roll the dice in a board game, and savor the company of friends.
