Revamped Cobb’s Hill Estate roll out premium Adelaide Hill’s cellar door experience

Cobb’s Hill Estate provides an exceptional tasting experience, showing off its classic Adelaide Hills cool-climate wines, gins and cocktails.

Just 30 minutes from the CBD in the Adelaide Hills sits the recently expanded Cobb’s Hill Estate. It’s not only synonymous with premium wines and picturesque landscape, but now has a top-tier new restaurant and events pavilion, in addition to its botanical gardens and of course, its original cellar door.

With a dedication to showcasing classic Adelaide Hills cool-climate wines, its cellar door provides    personalised, unhurried, tailored experiences in its own dedicated space in Cobb’s beautiful setting for all levels of wine lovers.

“We’re really focusing on being a premium wine estate, not only in terms of our great hospitality and setting, but also with our classic Adelaide Hills cool climate wines. Our goal is to showcase the entire journey, from vineyard to bottle, right here at our cellar door,” Dave, Cobb’s Hill cellar door manager, shared with Glam Adelaide.

What sets Cobb’s Hill Estate apart is its commitment to premium experiences. Beyond the lush vineyards and rolling hills, the cellar door is a haven for those that enjoy sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a wine (or grape-infused Gins from its partnership with Underground Spirits).

Cobb’s Hill is renowned for its Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Sparkling wines. The tastings not just about sipping wine but about enjoying the stories that these wines and the estate have to tell – which isn’t hard when its history dates back to 1854.

Cobb’s Hill Estate wines are crafted by winemaker Peter Leske. Peter is a specialist Adelaide Hills winemaker with over two decades of local winemaking expertise, plus vintages in France and California. He specialises in super-premium cool climate wines with many award-winning wines to his name.

Cobb’s Hill Estate wines are produced from its own estate grown vineyards. The Estate Range wines give a dynamic and lively character which is an approachable and fun experience. This range has something for everyone, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Pinot & Shiraz blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sparkling White, Rosé and Shiraz wines.

Its Reserve Range wines represent the best fruit and barrel selections typically aged two years before release. These wines focus on the regional heroes varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, plus cool climate Shiraz.

“We’re particularly passionate about our Reserve wines. Our Southern Cross Méthode Traditionnelle Sparkling and Charlotte Chardonnay are premium products that truly represent the essence of our estate,” Dave tells me.

Their Reserve Pinot Noir enhances the region’s growing reputation as a great place for Pinot. Plus cool climate sophisticated, silky and smooth Shiraz is in demand and well represented by their Maximus Reserve Shiraz.

Cobb’s Hill believes in rewarding its loyal patrons who love its wine selection. “We have a thriving Wine Club with numerous benefits. Wine Club members receive free tastings, exclusive discounts, early access to wines, and invitations to special events,” Dave says.

One cannot help but admire the thought and care put into crafting the tailored tasting experiences. The cellar door itself is beautiful, with wine tastings taking place in a cozy setting that overlooks the estate’s sprawling gardens.

Cobb’s Hill Estate is not just about wine; it’s about creating a holistic experience. You can add to your tailored wine tastings lunch in the new fine dining Terrace Restaurant or the more casual wine and dine in the Gardens. Both have group packages you can select from to share the love.

“We want to create separate spaces within the estate, each offering something distinct. This way, our visitors can enjoy a range of premium experiences during their visit,” Dave explained.

All areas celebrate the estate’s working farm and flourishing vegetable patches, which sit on the estate’s 250 acres (100 hectares) of quality farmland, with over 70 acres of vineyards, Black Angus cattle and Baby Doll Southdown sheep.

In any event visiting Cobb’s Hill Estate Cellar Door is an experience not to be missed. Old and new tastings areas are both inside and out, overlooking our botanical gardens, century old trees with lots of summer shade, pond and stone lined creek and the Cobb’s Hill Valley and vineyards beyond.
