It’s been a breakthrough maiden year for Small Batch Wine Tours and the rewards for their fresh approach to the much loved wine tour are extending beyond happy customers and a growing reputation.
In just over 8 months of operation Small Batch has taken home a Silver Medal in the highly competitive category for Best New Business at the 2016 SA Tourism Awards. This follows their announcement as Wine Tour Operator of the Year, Adelaide, in the 2016 Holiday & Tour Specialist Awards.
Owner Matthew Kurko is driven by more than simply a passion for wine, but for sharing the intimate stories of South Australia’s wonderful winemakers and regions with those who want more than just a cellar door drop off. His exceptional knowledge and ability to tailor each experience to the day and the customer see him rapidly rising on the Trip Advisor rankings, with a satisfaction rating above some of South Australia’s biggest wine icons.
“I was driven by a shift in people’s desire to do more than just visit a particular region,” explains Matthew. “Visitors now want to understand and engage with the region, to see where their wine comes from, and understand what it is they are buying. That’s the role Small Batch Wine Tours plays and it’s the key to our success.”
Passionate about promoting South Australia’s lesser known small batch producers, Small Batch Wine Tours seeks to engage guests with the region and to bring wine to life, educating their guests on a personal level to better understand their relationship with wine.
“At the end of the day I don’t want people to be aimlessly wandering down the aisle at their bottle shop, looking at the price tags and seeing if they recognize the label,” says Kurko. “As consumers of a premium product, I want people know what it is they’re looking for and how to find it, to understand what it is they’re paying for, and where that money is going.”
Founded in March 2016, Small Batch Wine Tours provides intimate small-group and fully curated private tours of South Australia’s premier wine regions – the Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, and McLaren Vale.
