Review: Liza On Ice

Liza Emanuele showcased her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection in what was truly a spectacular fashion experience at the Adelaide Ice Arena last week.

I can honestly say that I have never seen anything quite like Liza On Ice.

If you’ve ever been skating at the Ice Arena, you can’t imagine the amazing transformation it underwent to a become a Winter Wonderland.

What the crowd experienced was a magical journey through Liza’s fashion. I felt like we had been transported to another world!

The night featured ice skaters of all ages. Who knew we had so many talented skaters in Adelaide? I think everyone left the show wishing they had learnt how to ice skate as a child so they could look that impressive.

If I had one criticism of the show, it would be that the ice skaters were a bit distracting from the actual fashion parade. Luckily they were all dressed in gorgeous Liza Emanuele costumes.

Traditional Winter colours like black white and grey featured heavily but were broken up with colours like hot pink and electric blue.

Liza always does work wear excellently and suits were classic with a modern twist. There’s nothing more boring than a plain black suit and I love that Liza gives options for the office that step away from the norm.

What I love about Liza Emanuele’s clothes is that they can be worn by women of all ages (With the possible exception of white denim hotpants). This collection was no exception.

I love a bit of leopard print, which was a huge feature in the collection. Leopard is one of those things that can ‘go either way’.

I have to say, my favourite way it was used however was on the ice skaters!

Menswear was fun and colour really played a part. Liza stepped away from tradition Winter menswear which made a welcome change.

Mod mini dresses are on trend this season and high necks have made a comeback.

I never thought I would want to wear a turtleneck again but I guarantee you will want one this season.

One of my favourite pieces was the detachable pearl lined collars that were used. These are an instant, easy way to spruce up any outfit.

The looks were topped off with shoes from Regina Sole Queen, hair by and makeup

It’s not every day that someone in Adelaide puts on an event of this magnitude and this fashion parade has set the standard high for events here for a while.
