Diane Dixon, whose rock repertoire reads like the pages of Rolling Stone magazine, will join musical forces with world music star Visnja when Adelaide supergroup Sonnet plays ‘unplugged’ at The Highway on October 15.
Both musicians have an exceptional vocal range suited to the acoustic set, where they will be joined by seven instrumentalists and vocalists selected from the cream of Adelaide’s musical talent pool.
Sonnet Producer and Manager Don Moir says that the program showcases the talents of each musician in a new take on some of the most captivating songs of the past three decades.
“A lot of hard work has gone into developing a unique sound that is just going to amaze people,” Moir says. “The harmonies are nothing short of euphoric and the sound they produce will give you goosebumps – it sets a new standard of quality for Adelaide’s entertainment scene.”
Visnja, who was previously managed by Mark Holden, is looking forward to becoming a permanent member of Sonnet.
“I’m thrilled to put this show together with Sonnet, and The Highway, which is such a great venue to truly showcase the talents of this highly regarded group of performers in an intimate room,” Moir says.
“This is shaping up as the Sonnet’s best lineup to date, we guarantee an amazing evening.”
Sonnet’s members are Ian Politis, Mark Meyer, Sandy Hosking, Sam Raciti, Diane Dixon, Steve Williams, Gary Isaacs, Dave Zanchetta and Visnja, completing a mix of some of Adelaide most profile vocalists, songwriters and musicians.
Tom Williams, Event Manager of The Highway, said that the show in its unplugged format had attracted a lot of attention. “We are so pleased to work with DMA to bring Sonnet in its unplugged format to The Highway. I’ve seen Sonnet perform and I knew it was the perfect format for us. All I can say, is book early – this one is selling fast.”
