Route 9 Distillery’s epic free finger food Fridays kick off this month

The new night will be known as Finger Food Fridays, because it comes with snacks. And not just snacks; FREE snacks!

Route 9. It’s the boutique distillery in the Adelaide Hills celebrated for its bold flavours and rustic, country atmosphere.

And now there’s even more time to celebrate, as the team opens their doors on Fridays from 12pm to 8pm.

That’s not all though. The new night will be known as Finger Food Fridays, because it comes with snacks. And not just snacks; FREE snacks!

Think toasties, sausage sizzles, and pizzas slices; the team will be warming you up with a selection of delicious canapes that are sure to be the perfect antidote to a cold wintery evening.

To get your free finger food, you’ve got to have a drink. And let me tell you. That won’t be hard when you know what kind of gins these guys dish out.

There’s the BIG RED Gin, with the unique red juniper giving exotic savoury overtures of cardamom, olive leaf and almond. This one just brought home the silver gong at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Then there’s the UNRIND Citrus Gin, that has an explosion of zesty botanicals that earned it a bronze award.

And taking out the top spot, bringing home the gold, was SEA LEGS Navy Gin, with gentle spices of star anise, pink peppercorn, and vanilla. Cheers to that.

The team at Square 1 has also just launched a limited release Bohemian Raspberry Gin. That’s right. It’s the spirit that screams raspberries, using Adelaide Hills strawberries to transport you back to a simpler, cordial-sipping time.

So you can take a gin flight and taste these gins, or grab one of their 70+ whiskies or 50+ rums. And if spirits aren’t your vibe, they also have an extensive wine list.

This is a family-friendly affair, and Route 9 has a variety of arcade games and even a chess board that will keep them entertained. And you entertained. I’m not judging.

The distillery is also debuting a new outdoor area which has created a lot more space for patrons to spread out, and enjoy their gins in a relaxing and homely environment.

Route 9 was born when, after meeting by chance in Hong Kong, Adelaide boys and co-owners of Route 9, Samuel Brown and Rob Watt returned to SA to pursue their mutual dream of opening a distillery.

The Balhannah-based cellar door opened last year and is “unlike anything done before”, doubling as a fully-operating distillery and curated whisky and rum bar.

The Route 9 Cellar Door is located at 37 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Balhannah 5242.
