Rundle Mall 2012 Autumn/ Winter Fashion Launch

On Friday night, 200 of Adelaide’s fashionistas, models and VIPs gathered under the Gawler Place canopy for Rundle Mall’s 2012 Autumn/ Winter Fashion Launch, and although the weather was against us, the catwalk sizzled with some of the best Autumn/ Winter fashions from Rundle Mall retailers.

The ever-stylish Lisa McAskill was the host for the evening, introducing the parade which showcased 40 of Rundle Mall’s flagship retailers right through to its unique boutiques. The Rundle Mall Autumn/ Winter Fashion Parade was one of the first in Adelaide for the new season, leading the transition from Summer sundresses to Autumn knits.

The parade started off with a bang, thanks to the explosive dancing from some talented students from the Australian Company of Performing Arts. The dancers kicked off the show with an energetic hip-hop performance that was sure to heat up the chilliest of Autumn nights.

With the crowd all warmed up it was time for the fashion to begin.

The first retailer onto the runway was Rundle Mall veteran David Jones, showcasing the finest Autumn/Winter styles for men and women. The beautiful fashions were accessorised with some very funky umbrellas, fitting perfectly with the song choice of Rhianna’s smash hit ‘Umbrella’ – a quirky way to start off the show.

Tanya Powell Models looked great in fashions from Country Road, Kookai, Peter Shearer, Veronika Main, Portmans and many more.

This year’s Autumn/ Winter style is all about bold statement pieces, colour blocking, 60s mod, faux furs, colourful accessories, texture and glamour!

One of the most popular colours we’ve seen throughout the retailers is burnt orange, be it in the form of knits, jackets, skirts or dresses. Orange is the perfect colour to pair with your traditional winter blacks and browns.

Other popular colours for the season are jewel tones, rich emeralds and amethyst are perfect for a pop of colour to liven up dark winter outfits.

1960s mod and vintage style made a comeback on the runway, with tweed appearing in jackets and pants as well as leopard print and fur bring back the vintage flair that we all love.

To close the show, models wore beautiful gowns from Showies Boutique and jewellery from Gerard McCabe.

The fashion parade got everyone excited about Winter fashions and gave us inspiration to start building Winter wardrobes. With over 700 retailers, Rundle Mall has all your shopping sorted.
