Black Friday is one of Rundle Mall’s biggest shopping days of the year, and with it comes tens of thousands of shoppers and many, many shopping bags. When you’re elbowing to get to that last pair of pink satin heels, the last thing you want to think about is your four shopping bags falling off of your shoulder and emptying out onto the floor.
Well, worry no more because Rundle Mall is launching its first ever ‘bag drop’ concierge and chauffeur service, so shoppers can move ‘hands-free’ between stores.
Andrew White, Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s Executive Manager, Rundle Mall, says this weekend will be the state’s biggest pre-Christmas sales event.
“We’ve got 16 hours of continuous trading from 8am until midnight on Black Friday, and we’re expecting savvy shoppers to take advantage of discounts of 30, 40 and up to 50 per cent off on everything from fashion, footwear and sporting goods, to technology, toys and jewellery,” Andrew says.
“A quarter of Christmas shopping is expected to be completed in the Black Friday sales with shoppers predicted to spend an average of $375 each across Black Friday and the weekend.”
To help busy shoppers avoid the dreaded bag juggle, the Rundle Mall Concierge will pop up at the Gawler Place Canopy on Friday and Saturday. The service will provide a complimentary ‘bag drop’ service and a chauffeured buggy to transport shoppers to their next shopping destination or help them take their bags back to their parked car within the Rundle Mall Precinct.
“Safely store your Black Friday purchases at our Rundle Mall Concierge then hail the Rundle Mall buggy to whisk you off to your next store of choice to keep working through your list,” Andrew said.
“The Rundle Mall Cocktail Lounge will also pop up near the Pigeon to provide some respite with cocktails and mocktails on offer and there’ll be DJs playing to add more fun to the shopping experience.”
The first 100 shoppers to use the Concierge bag drop each day will receive a complimentary drink from the pop up espresso martini bar at the Rundle Mall Cocktail Lounge, with drink discounts offered to every shopper using the bag drop facility after that.
Reflecting on Black Friday’s exploding popularity, Mr White recommends that savvy shoppers head in-store, grab some mega discounts and get a head start on their Christmas shopping.
“With amazing new stores like UNIQLO which opens at 10am on Thursday 24 November, JD Sports, Glue Store, rebel, Nike, QBD and Dymocks, along with international brands such as Sephora and H&M, Rundle Mall is the best place to be this Black Friday Weekend,” he said.
Rundle Mall will be open from 8am until midnight on Friday 25 November and 9am to 5pm on the weekend. Check with individual stores for confirmed trading hours.
