Tens of thousands of South Australian bargain hunters will flock to Rundle Mall tomorrow to take advantage of sales of up to 60 per cent off.

Open from 9 am-5 pm, Boxing Day is predicted to be one of Rundle Mall’s busiest trading days of the year.

Hosted by Jarrod Walsh and Amelia Mulcahy, those early birds vying for the first look at the bargains will be treated to DJs, voucher giveaways and the traditional confetti cannon as the doors open at 9 am.

The first 200 shoppers at David Jones will each receive a $20 voucher to spend in-store, and a free coffee.

Meanwhile, the first 100 shoppers at Myer will each receive a $20 voucher to spend in-store, as well as a $20 voucher to spend in the Myer Centre and a free coffee.

Last year, hundreds of shoppers queued from as early as 5 am at the Mall’s major department stores Myer and David Jones to be among the first to shop the sales.

“Shopping the Boxing Day sales in Rundle Mall is an annual tradition for thousands of South Australians,” said Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s executive manager of marketing, Michael Rossi.

“Tills will be ringing from open until close, with shoppers snapping up huge discounts of up to 60 per cent off to make Boxing Day one of the precinct’s busiest trading days this year.

“Many shoppers will take advantage of the sales to refresh their wardrobe, while for others it’s a chance to save hundreds on restocking the house with new towels, bedding, crockery, and small appliances and electronics.

“And, of course, there’s plenty of people thinking ahead to next year, buying heavily discounted Christmas trees and decorations.

“Whatever you’re shopping for, Rundle Mall is home to the biggest local, national and international brands, making it the home of and best place to shop the Boxing Day sales.”

According to the Australian Retailers Association, South Australians are predicted to spend approximately $1.36 billion post-Christmas this year, up 2.9% from last year.
