Adelaide-based acrobatic troupe Gravity & Other Myths (GOM) celebrated a monumental achievement last week, by welcoming its one-millionth audience member at the Adelaide Fringe. The milestone event marks 16 years since the group’s inception and 15 years following their debut at the very same festival.
The one-millionth ticket holder, Lachlan, attended the performance of ‘The Mirror’, one of the two shows GOM is currently showcasing at Gluttony. ‘The Mirror’ and ‘Ten Thousand Hours’ have collectively impressed critics this season, garnering eleven five-star reviews combined. Along with enjoying the acclaimed performance, Lachlan received a special gift pack which included a $100 Adelaide Fringe gift card, courtesy of GOM.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, Lachlan Binns, the Company Director, shared, “It’s been an awesome journey over the last 15 years, and it feels so special to be able to pass this incredible milestone for our home-grown company here in Adelaide, at the same festival where we welcomed our first audiences. Starting out, we were lucky enough to have this festival on our doorstep and we hope that other young aspiring artists can see our success story and follow in our footsteps.”
Since its establishment as a humble troupe emerging from Cirkidz in 2009, Gravity & Other Myths has expanded its reach globally, performing in 39 countries. To date, the troupe has produced ten different productions, featuring a total of 72 acrobats over the years.
‘The Mirror’ and ‘Ten Thousand Hours’ will both continue to run at Gluttony until March 23. ‘The Mirror’ is staged at The Octagon, while ‘Ten Thousand Hours’ takes place at The Peacock.
