SA COVID update: New border announcements for Victoria & NSW

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens today announced that SA will lift border restrictions on Victoria while imposing isolation rules on NSW.

Just announced, South Australia will reopen its borders to people in Greater Melbourne this Friday following the news of no new active cases of COVID in Victoria.

The restrictions will lift at 12:01am this Friday and travellers coming from Greater Melbourne will still be required to isolate until they undergo testing on day one of arrival, with isolation no longer necessary after testing.

High risk locations will also be completely off limits to said travellers to reduce the potential risk of transmission throuhg th ecommunity.

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens made the announcement today following a meeting with the state’s Transition Committee this morning.

Commissioner Stevens also announced that following five locally acquired COVID-19 cases those entering SA from NSW will be required to isolate and be tested immediately.

The news comes following last weeks announcement of a hard border closure, banning entry into the state for those who have visited New South Wales COVID-19 hotspots.

The hard border came into affect on 17 June in an announcement from the SA Police Commissioner, with those who have already arrived in SA ordered to isolate and contact SA Health to find out more information regarding testing and home quarantine.

Those already in the state who had visited any of the sites must quarantine for 14 days, get tested immediately as well as on day 5 and 13 after their arrival back into the state, as well as wear a face mask at any time they come into contact with the public during their 14 days i.e. while being tested.
