In a powerful display of community and corporate synergy, three South Australian entities have come together for the Emerald Way Charity Home project.
This initiative will see a luxury home constructed in Mount Barker and auctioned off in 2024. All proceeds will support Variety SA, a charity aiding sick, disadvantaged, or disabled children.
The project begins on land donated by Joe Belperio, Owner and Director of Emerald Way Mount Barker. The home is named “The Amelie” in honor of Belperio’s daughter, who passed away at age three. “Amelie’s passing left a void in our hearts,” Belperio says.
“Creating this home in her memory transforms our grief into hope for other families. It’s our way of giving back.”
Urban Edge SA, led by Director Ameen Farah, is contributing the construction of this double-storey house. “The Amelie is designed to support family life,” explains Farah. “It includes a spacious kitchen, open-plan living areas, and a tranquil alfresco area. We’re all eager to see the designs come to life.”
Marketing and auction efforts are being handled by Century 21 SA, which is also engaged in fundraising across its offices. Greg Nybo, Principal/Owner from Century 21 Property People, highlights the unique auction format: “This no reserve auction means the highest bid will secure the home, maximizing funds for the charity. We’re thrilled to have Tom Panos, as seen on Channel 9’s The Block, as our auctioneer, which should attract a great crowd.”
The project is supported by over 25 local businesses, donating time, services, and products. Mark McGill, CEO of Variety SA, is grateful for the community support: “This home represents a collective effort to bring hope. We’re excited about how this project will help families across SA.”
The home will be open for public viewing in November 2024, with the auction scheduled for December. Further details will be available on the Emerald Way Charity Home website.
