This month, the city is set to be transported back in time through the eras of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, all encapsulated in one exhilarating event: FROCK – A celebration of fashion and rock.
With vintage flair from A Star Is Worn and fresh designs from emerging local talents, FROCK promises an unforgettable evening full of fashion reworked, recycled and repurposed.
“It should be a fun night filled with dancers, models, vintage fashion, and emerging designers all wrapped up in a rock n’ roll time warp,” says Brigette Mitchell of Finesse Models Australia.
As attendees immerse themselves in the atmosphere of each decade, they’ll find themselves reliving the iconic fashion trends that defined those times.
From the poodle skirts and leather jackets of the 50s to the psychedelic prints and bold colours of the 60s, every era brings its own distinct flair to the stage. The 70s usher in a groovy vibe with bell-bottoms and platform shoes, while the 80s explode with neon hues and punk rock edge. It’s a chance to step back in time and embrace the unique styles that have shaped fashion history. It’s also a chance to give back to the community.
“We are really proud to be donating part proceeds to MND South Australia and support the people who support those who are living with MND in our state,” Brigette says.
Nerve cells, also known as neurones, play a crucial role in controlling our ability to move, speak, breathe, and swallow. Motor neurone disease (MND) encompasses a group of disorders where these essential neurones malfunction. As a result, muscles begin to weaken and atrophy over time, a consequence of the degeneration and eventual death of these neurones.
Entertainment is also at the forefront of FROCK, with Adelaide Cabaret icon Hans leading the charge.
Renowned for his electrifying performances and boundless energy from Berlin to right here in South Australia, Hans promises to bring his signature blend of comedy and cabaret.
“Boozier than Oktoberfest, more drive than a Volkswagen, and more sausage than a bratwurst convention, I am Hans,” he says about himself.
And let’s not forget the gift bags, brimming with goodies from sponsors such as DAVROE, Model Rock Lashes, A Star Is Worn, and Burnside Village. It’s the perfect way to take home a piece of FROCK and continue the celebration long after the event has ended.
Whether you’re a vintage aficionado, a music lover, or simply looking for a groovy night, you’re encouraged to wear your favourite era-inspired outfit and “Shake Your Tail Feather“.
