Get ready to double up with laughter because the South Aussie comedy duo Shanelle Franklin and Tamara Linke, hosts of the irresistibly hilarious podcast, ‘The Beautiful Nightmare’, have recently been short-listed for the coveted title of ‘Best Comedy Podcast’ at the 2023 Australian Podcast Industry Awards.
Taking place on Tuesday, 21st November, The Australian Podcast will be hosted at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, with the winners announced on the night.
Nominated alongside podcast heavyweights like The Chaser, Tony Martin, Aunty Donna, and three-time winner, A Rational Fear, the South Australian comedians are making waves as the only women to reach the finals in their category and are both proud to be representing and championing Aussie Women in Comedy at this year’s awards.
‘We are absolutely buzzing with this news, and it’s a wonderful feeling to be recognised within the podcast industry at such a high level’, said Shanelle and Tamara.

The girl’s journey began together in the mid-2000s when they forged a bond as radio announcers, maintaining a strong working relationship and friendship ever since. Fast forward to today, and their chemistry is undeniable, with their camaraderie extending far beyond the microphone. This powerhouse pair has not only treated fans to two sold-out seasons at the Adelaide Fringe, but they’ve also toured extensively, building a global fanbase that places their podcast among the top 20% worldwide.
Their impressive achievements don’t stop at podcasting and live shows—they’ve graced stages as MCs for events by top-tier brands like Bonds and Aussie Gold, lent their voices to the noble national charity, Share the Dignity, and were also shortlisted for the AACTA Reg Grundy Award in 2022 for their innovative TV concept, ‘Unshackled.’
The duo’s growing recognition is evident with Apple Podcasts Australia featuring ‘The Beautiful Nightmare’ multiple times, and the girls were swiftly signed by the renowned talent agency, More Talent. With a media career spanning over a decade, these ladies have showcased their versatility in radio, television, stage, and brand events, and their nomination for the Australian Podcast Award only further cements their position as the ‘ones to watch’ in the media landscape.
