SA company making Gin & Tonic Marmalade

SA company Fiaje makes a G&T Marmalade perfect for your toast.

South Australia is well known for its incredible gin, and thanks to local producers Fiaje, you can now enjoy Gin and Tonic Marmalade.

Fiaje co-owner Amanda Penno says she noticed how popular gin was, and had seen some other gin spreads. She wanted to make something that really tasted like a gin and tonic.

“I tried some gin jam before, and we made a lime marmalade so I wondered whether I could come up with something in between them and add tonic as well,” says Amanda.

“I wanted to get onto the trend of gin but not just make it a gimmicky thing. I wanted to actually get the balance right and make it taste like a gin and tonic, which I think I’ve done.”

The Gin and Tonic Marmalade has gone on to impress, winning a gold medal at the Australian Marmalade Awards in 2019.

Fiaje stands for Fruit in a Jar experience, and was born as the solution to Amanda and her friends having an excess of fruit from their gardens.

“Our business started about four years ago, and it just started with friends having an abundance of fruit,” she says.

“We’d do swaps and make jams, and then someone said, you should start selling this.”

Fiaje sell relishes jams, jellies and chutneys, as well as marmalades.

Fiaje doesn’t have a storefront but you can purchase products from their website, as well as a select number of stores around Adelaide.

You can also find them every Sunday at the Adelaide Farmers’ Market at the Wayville Showgrounds.
