Premier Steven Marshall today announced the current COVID-19 situation in NSW is deteriorating with additional exposure sites and the number of new infections on the rise.

Level 6 restrictions have now been put in place for NSW with a 100km buffer along the border that will provide a great relief to people in places like Wentworth and Broken Hill. These restrictions are effective immediate.

Anyone living or operating within the 100km buffer will be able to travel unrestricted to South Australia.

This means that those who have been to NSW in the last 14 days are not permitted entry into SA, with the following exemptions:

  • Those returning home to SA
  • People moving permanently to SA
  • Those escaping a domestic violence situation
  • Essential workers

These restrictions, Premier Marshall says, will help to keep our state safe, as well as protect our economy during this difficult time for our neighbouring state, NSW.

Marshall acknowledged this would be a difficult time for some people heading into the school holidays, and extended his gratitude to those it will directly impact, but insisted this action be taken immediately.
