SA Distilleries Joining Forces For An Epic Gin Fest This Weekend

Gin enthusiasts, you will not want to miss World Gin Day party at Glen Ewin Estate.

Turns out there is a heaven after all… It’s called Glen Ewin Estate’s Gin Fest and we’re all invited for an epic party to celebrate the glorious spirit on Saturday 10 June.

Eight South Australian distilleries are banding together to bring you a day packed with tastings, gin-cocktails, gin masterclasses and gin-inspired food all in the name of celebrating World Gin Day.

Let us warn you though, this is not for the faint-hearted. If you don’t like gin… this probably ain’t the day for you. But don’t worry, we’re on the hunt for World Wine Day.

Glen Ewin’s Gin Fest kicks off in the Pulpshed from 11am-6pm. Each distiller will be set up around the room so you can walk around and taste your way through the local varieties, even sampling some award-winning gin first hand. Hot Tip: Settlers Spirits are launching two brand new gins here – one’s a Yuzu Gin, the other a Winter Gin (think Adelaide figs, ginger, cinnamon and cloves)

The menu for the day will also be heavily influenced by gin for example, the hero of the day will be the huge spit-roasted pork marinated in gin/liquid gold. While the rest of the food is being kept fairly tight-lipped, we’ve heard that food plates will also be available and each of the masterclasses comes with three canapés

The three masterclasses on offer are for the true gin enthusiasts – you can learn all the amazing things that go on behind the scene and become a master at all things gin yourself.

Applewood Distillery will be walking you through creating the perfect Negroni, which is a mix becoming more and more popular made from Campari, Vermouth and Gin.

Pot and Still will take you on a GINtleman’s journey in a tell-all about their famous fig gin, as well the experts take on how why they love gin as a drink.

Ounce Gin will be teaching how to appreciate gin without the assistance of any accompaniments. You’ll learn how to distinguish unique flavours and understand the botanics that make up the gin.

Live music and DJ will be bringing the tunes all day long and Des’ Minibuses are providing transport to and from the city for those wanting to leave the keys at home.
