Adelaide’s own Prohibition Liquor Co. has secured a victory at the esteemed World Drinks Awards held in London, earning the distinguished title of Campaign Innovator of the Year.
The World Drinks Awards, renowned for recognising excellence in spirit drinks across various categories, gave this prestigious honour to Prohibition Liquor Co. during a gala dinner in London.
The award not only celebrates the brand’s exceptional quality but also acknowledges its groundbreaking Bootleg Box Bespoke Gins project, which stood out among competitors from around the world. The brand also took out the “Australia Country Winner” for best London Dry Gin and best colour-changing gin.
Owner Adam Carpenter expressed his elation on social media, emphasising the collaborative effort behind the brand’s success.
“When you work with an amazing group of people to create an amazing brand in #Adelaide and that brand wins a World’s best award in #london it’s a bit of a moment. Campaign Innovator of the Year for our Bootleg Box Bespoke Gins project – best in the world. Thanks to everyone involved. A huge congrats to our fellow Aussies @barossadistillingco and @fourpillarsgin for their epic wins too,” he wrote.
Prohibition Liquor Co.’s journey to global recognition began in 2015 when two friends embarked on a daring venture to establish a gin distillery in Adelaide. Combining expertise in food and beverage with a passion for brand creation, they transformed a backyard garage into the birthplace of a beloved local institution.
Since then, Prohibition Liquor Co. has evolved into an Adelaide icon, expanding its operations to include a city distillery, Bootleg Coffee Co., and Next Door cocktail bar. The brand’s commitment to crafting ultra-premium gins resonates throughout its venues and resonates across Australia and beyond.
Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden leads the charge in sourcing only the finest botanicals, ensuring each hand-crafted gin boasts a unique flavour profile. By incorporating exotic combinations of traditional ingredients alongside native Australian botanicals, Prohibition Liquor Co. continues to captivate palates globally.
Anita Ujszaszi, awards director, lauded the competitiveness and quality of the gin category at the World Drinks Awards this year, affirming Prohibition Liquor Co.’s well-deserved win.
“The competitiveness in the gin category continues to grow every year and we are delighted as always to have recognised the World’s Best. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to our dedicated judges in Canada, the USA, Germany and our global judging panel in the UK. It was a fantastic experience to host more than 100 entrants and judges for our final World’s Best Tasting and Country Winner Announcement in London. Thank you to all of those who attended,” Ujszaszi said.
