SA gin producer takes out World’s Best title in London

Adelaide’s Prohibition Liquor Co. has taken home multiple accolades at the 2025 World Drinks Awards in London.

A local gin producer has stolen the show on an international stage, taking out a stack of prestigious honours at the 2025 World Drinks Awards in London.

Adelaide’s own Prohibition Liquor Co. has gone up against some of the world’s finest drink makers to be named Brand Innovator of the Year, at a ceremony in London’s West End at the iconic Waldorf Hilton.

The South Australian brand didn’t just take home one trophy, it brought home a hefty haul. Their Bootleg Coffee Liqueur won World’s Best Coffee Liqueur for the second year in a row, and their Hazelnut & Macadamia Liqueur was named the World’s Best Nut Liqueur. Their famous colour-changing Moonlight Gin was also named among the winners, crowned Country Winner for Australia.

Prohibition was also highly commended for both Distiller of the Year and Craft Producer of the Year.

“It’s an incredible honour to once again be recognised on the world stage—it reminds us why we do what we do. We entered these awards to benchmark ourselves against the best, and every medal is a testament to the heart of our small team and every single person who has invested in us,” shared Prohibition founder and CEO Adam Carpenter.

“We’re proud to have been the most awarded distillery in the room in London this year. To receive more recognition than any of our peers was a real milestone moment. Huge congratulations to our distiller Hugh and the entire team—this is a testament to their relentless pursuit of quality.”

The glitzy London awards ceremony celebrated the world’s best booze with live entertainment, a three-course dinner and of course top-notch drinks, all in London’s historic Palm Court. But the real magic, as Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden points out, happens back home.

“It’s incredibly validating to be acknowledged not only for the taste and quality of our spirits but also for the innovation that defines our approach to distilling. From bold native botanicals to modern production methods, we’re proud to represent Australia on the world stage,” shared Hugh.
