The “spiciest sauce ever” has dropped in Adelaide – can you handle the heat?

Soonta has teamed up with MasterChef 2024 Australia finalist Sav Perera to launch two bold new spicy sauces.

Soonta are firing things up this winter, with two brand new spicy sauces, made in collaboration with MasterChef Australia’s very own Sav Perera.

Sav Perera is an Adelaide-based private chef who rocked the MasterChef Kitchen in 2024, finishing in the top three finalists. Known for her love of Asian and Sri Lankan cuisine, Sav is a total pro at working with rich flavours and blending traditional and modern techniques.

Sav has joined forces with the team at the Asian-fusion grab-and-go restaurant, Soonta, to create two spicy winter sauces that are the perfect addition to the salads, bowls, and banh mi, the eatery is known for.

The sauces are both inspired by the flavours Sav grew up cooking with, and have been dubbed as Soonta’s ‘spiciest sauces ever.’

First up is the Spicy SRI-Racha. This red sauce is fiery and not for the faint-hearted. If you want to challenge your limits, this one’s for you! It’s sure to warm you up this winter.

“It’s not just super spicy, though, there are lots of different flavours that come into it and really elevate the sauce. After the spice, there’s a hint of sweetness,” shared a spokesperson.

The second sauce is the Tropical Spice, which features flavours of coconut and green chilli. This one is yellow, zesty, and while it has a touch less heat, it still packs a punch with the flavour.

“The Tropical Spice is milder than the Spicy SRI-Racha, so better for people who may not want it as spicy.”

The sauces can be bought individually for $6.90 in stores, but if you want to give them a try, you can also add them to any kind of meal. The team highly recommends trying the sauces with their rice bowls.

“Typically, Soonta’s rice bowls have heaps of protein and are served with a fish sauce or a soy sauce. When you add in these spicy sauces, it takes the flavours to the next level. They also go great on the Banh Mi.”

You can find all this and more in any of Soonta’s sixteen South Australian stores. To find one near you and to check out what else is on offer, click here.
