SA Receives Nominations In Coveted Australian Gourmet Traveller 2018 Restaurant Awards

This year’s finalists for the Australian Gourmet Traveller 2018 Restaurant Awards have been announced, including three South Australian nominees.

Where is the most exciting food being cooked in Australia right now? Who’s cooking it? Who’s serving it? And what are we going to drink with it? Australia’s top places to dine and drink have been put to the test to bring you the finalists in the Gourmet Traveller’s Restaurant Awards. The finalists are featured in the August issue of Gourmet Traveller, out now.

Three finalists have been announced in each of the seven hotly contested categories: New Restaurant of the Year, Sommelier of the Year, Wine List of the Year, Regional Restaurant of the Year, Bar of the Year, Best New Talent and Maître d’ of the Year.

South Australian finalists have been announced in three of the seven categories. Hardys Verandah Restaurant have made their mark in the industry, with Patrick White being nominated for Sommelier of the Year, and his wine list also being nominated for the best in Australia. Orana has also made the list, with Greta Wohlstadt being nominated for Maitre D’ of the Year.

Winners will be announced and celebrated on Wednesday, 23rd, August in Sydney at a ceremony that will also mark the hotly anticipated opening of Chin Chin Sydney, and grant the first look in decades inside the newly renovated Griffith Teas building, one of the city’s most mysterious landmarks.

Winners will be featured in the new edition of the Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide, Australia’s original national restaurant guide, presented by Vittoria Coffee and supporting sponsor Ilve, sold bundled with the magazine on Thursday 24th August, 2017.

The coveted Restaurant of the Year will be announced on the night, along with the peer-voted Chef of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to Hospitality.
