SA records new COVID-19 case as concerns are raised regarding QLD travellers

The nurse travelled to Victoria as part of South Australia’s efforts to assist the unfolding COVID-19 crisis, and was working in aged care.

A South Australian nurse has tested positive to COVID-19 after returning from Victoria.

Professor Nicola Spurrier confirmed the news on Sunday 23 August, stating the woman has no symptoms, and has been quarantining in a medi-hotel since arriving back in the state.

The nurse travelled to Victoria as part of South Australia’s efforts to assist the unfolding COVID-19 crisis, and was working in aged care.

Eight nurses returned with the woman, and have been deemed close contacts.

As of today, South Australia has three active COVID-19 cases.

Professor Spurrier also reiterated the concern around Queensland’s COVID-19 outbreak in the Greater Brisbane and Ipswich area.

She urged any South Australians who may have been in this area to get tested.
